Visa Information:
INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICANTS

The Consulate General of India, Hong Kong issues Tourist/Business/ Student/Employment and other types of Visa to applicants who are residents of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. People with Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan ID cards can normally obtain a visa in two working days.

Visa can also be issued to applicants who are not normal residents of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan only after obtaining clearance from the Indian Missions in countries of their normal residence. A time period of 4 to 5 working days is required for processing the request of such applicants. Applicants under this category are required to pay HK$100/- towards telex/fax charges. The visa fee is to be paid after the clearance is received.

All applicants are required to apply in the prescribed application forms along with two passport size photographs

Tourist Visa: Applicants are required to submit application form indicating the place(s) of visit and duration of stay.

Student Visa: Applicants are required to submit a copy of the letter of admission from the recognised institutions along with their applications. Applicants are advised to apply for visa well in advance as in some cases a processing time of at least 4 weeks is required.

Business Visa: Applicants are requested to provide a company letter (from the local company as well as the Indian company) explaining the general purpose of the visit, places to be visited and persons/companies to be contacted

Journalists and those seeking Visa for Research or Filming in India are required to fill in separate forms and provide additional information sought therein. Declaration is also to be filed in respect of equipment being carried. For Research/Filming purpose, a processing time of at least 4 weeks is necessary

Employment Visa: Applicants must provide proper appointment letter from the employer with copies of documents relating to the Company's incorporation in India.

Conference Visa: In some cases a processing time of at least 4 weeks is necessary for grant of visa.

Tourist Visa for PRC nationals: Processing time of at least 4 weeks is required in cases of grant of a tourist visa to individuals

Group Tourist Visa for PRC nationals: A group comprising of not less then 4 members are eligible for grant of visa under this scheme. Following documents/information are required to be submitted along with visa applications:

a. Document from the local tour operator and its Indian counterpart (one of the approved tour operators).
b. Detailed itinerary.
c. Point of entry and exit only through airports having regular and scheduled international flights

Visa is normally granted on the third working day from the date of receipt of application completed in all respect and the visa would be valid for entry in India after 15 days from the date of issue. Further the grant of visa is subject to guidelines concerning restricted and prohibited areas

NOTE:
i. Each visa application is considered on its merit and the Consulate General of India, Hong Kong may seek additional information at any stage during the processing of the application. Visa fee once paid is not refundable.
ii. Visitors holding Visa valid for more than 180 days are required to register with the Foreigners' Registration Officer within 14 days of their first arrival in India.

Visa Fees

An additional processing fee of HK$ 160/- is chargeable in respect of US passport holders.
For grant of visa after office hours and on Holidays an amount of HK $ 280/- is chargeable.
